HOW IT'S DONE

SAVED FROM LANDFILLS SAVED FROM LANDFILLS SAVED FROM LANDFILLS SAVED FROM LANDFILLS SAVED FROM LANDFILLS SAVED FROM LANDFILLS SAVED FROM LANDFILLS

Every single piece is constructed from fabrics that were once headed to landfills. Raw materials are sourced from local consignment shops, rag houses, and donations, and are reworked into new pieces. Holes, fading, stains and any other defect are designed around, giving the original piece a whole new purpose and life.

The purpose of upcycling and reworking old garments into new pieces is to stop the effects of fast fashion. Fast fashion is responsible for the growing textile waste crisis, as well as water waste and pollution, and exploitation of factory workers. Each piece from UPCYCLED BY MELANIE saves around 2,100 gallons of water and 2lbs of fabric from landfills.

I specialize in unisex sweats and hoodies, as well as matching sets and bustiers. I take pride in producing handmade pieces that cannot be bought anywhere else, and it is my mission to only source from second-hand fabrics to keep clothing out of landfills.
